The London mayor was reportedly sent a court order after the DVLA accused him of failing to tax a 2002 Nissan Micra which City Hall says he has never owned.⁠

According to reports, a 24-year-old man claimed he registered the car using Khan's details after becoming frustrated with London's ULEZ scheme, which charges drivers of vehicles that don't meet its emissions standards.⁠

The case resulted in Khan being ordered to pay £340.84 in fines and costs over the untaxed vehicle.⁠

City Hall said the mayor was the “victim of a scam” and that the Micra had never belonged to him.⁠
⁠
The DVLA has since said it is investigating the allegedly false registration and reviewing the prosecution after being made aware of the circumstances.⁠
