As of today, 2 September 2026, we are officially closer to the year 2040 than we are to 2012.⁠

2012 gave us the grumpy cat, The Avengers, PSY's Gangnam Style taking over the internet and Carly Rae Jepsen releasing Call Me Maybe.⁠

We also had some absolutely huge memes from the chaos of Kony 2012, to everyone singing £1 fish at the top of their lungs. And somehow, all of that is now further away from us than 2040.⁠
