If you build your identity around being a victim, don’t be surprised when your entire life starts looking like evidence that you are one.

Whenever you buy into an ideology that pedestalizes victimhood, you create a psychological trap.

If you believe you’re disadvantaged, you’ll notice every disadvantage.

If you believe the world is against you, you’ll interpret opposition as proof.

If you believe everyone else is obligated to reorganize their worldview around your feelings, anyone who refuses can suddenly become your enemy—transphobic, homophobic, hateful, oppressive, whatever label fits the ideology.

And then something very interesting happens:

You begin collecting experiences that reinforce the story you already believe.

This isn’t necessarily because the world has conspired against you.

It’s because your beliefs determine what you pay attention to, how you interpret what happens to you, and ultimately how you respond.

You become highly sensitive to evidence that confirms your victimhood and blind to evidence that contradicts it.

The ideology gives you the lens, and then life appears to confirm the lens.

That’s the danger of making victimhood part of your identity.

At some point, you’re no longer trying to escape the circumstances that make you feel like a victim.

You’re unconsciously protecting the identity of being one.

And once that happens, almost anything that happens to you can be interpreted as proof that you were right all along.
