The worst thing complex trauma does isn't the flashbacks. It's the bone-deep conviction that you are the problem.

Not that something happened to you. That something is wrong with you. A child experiencing ongoing harm doesn't conclude this is wrong. They conclude I am wrong.

You are not defective. You were taught to believe you were.
