No. 25 Missouri opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion Thursday night at Faurot Field, rolling past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 54-14 behind a near-flawless debut from transfer quarterback Austin Simmons and a first-half defensive shutout.

Simmons, who arrived from SEC rival Ole Miss this offseason, completed 17 of 19 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns before sitting for the entire second half with the Tigers up 40-0. He was a perfect 7 of 7 on the opening drive, capping it with a 25-yard strike over the middle to Shaun Terry II for the SEC's first touchdown of the season. Donovan Olugbode was his favorite target, hauling in eight catches for 116 yards and two scores, and Simmons also connected with fellow Ole Miss transfer Cayden Lee on a 47-yard touchdown, the longest play of the night.

Jamal Roberts, starting in place of sidelined All-America running back Ahmad Hardy, added 47 yards and a rushing touchdown, while the defense held the Golden Lions to minus-26 rushing yards, 32 passing yards and two first downs in the opening half. Matt Zollers and freshman Preston Hatfield each added rushing scores as Missouri finished with 198 yards on the ground.

The Tigers travel to Kansas next Friday night for the latest edition of the Border War.
