22nd-ranked Tennessee kept its unbeaten start rolling, sweeping Morehead State 25-16, 25-18, 25-12 in the first leg of a Saturday doubleheader that also saw the Lady Vols take down Fairfield just hours later.

Tennessee relied on its depth to get the job done, with nine different players recording kills in the match. The Lady Vols jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set behind freshman outside hitter Morgan Williams, who was making her first career start. Williams had three kills within the first six Tennessee points and finished the opening frame with six kills, helping Tennessee hold off a fighting Morehead State squad to take the set 25-16.

Sophomore Maggie Dostic, shifting into a more offensive role after playing primarily as a defensive specialist as a freshman, was a key factor in keeping Morehead State at bay through the second and third sets, posting double-digit kills for the first time in her career with 10 to go with four digs and two aces. Head coach Eve Rackham Watt praised her performance afterward, saying Dostic passed well, served well and delivered in big moments when Tennessee needed a kill or a side-out. Williams and Dostic combined for 22 kills on the day.

The win improved Tennessee to 2-0 on the season, part of a stretch that saw the Lady Vols play three matches in a two-day span. Morehead State fell to 0-2. Tennessee turned around just hours later to close out the Tennessee Tournament with a sweep of Fairfield, finishing the opening weekend a perfect 3-0.
