22nd-ranked Tennessee closed out a perfect opening weekend with a 27-25, 25-23, 25-12 sweep of a feisty Fairfield squad, capping a tournament in which the Lady Vols swept all three of their matches without dropping a set. It was Tennessee's second match of the day, coming just hours after a 3-0 sweep of Morehead State earlier that afternoon.

The opening set was a dogfight from start to finish, with Fairfield pushing Tennessee to the brink before the Lady Vols pulled it out 27-25. Fairfield grabbed the early edge in the second set, building a 10-7 lead, but Tennessee clawed back to level things at 15-15 before the two sides traded points down the stretch. Sophomore Kennedi Rogers ultimately put the set away to push Tennessee ahead two sets to none. The Lady Vols then closed out the match comfortably in the third, 25-12.

Rogers was the story of the night, delivering another double-double with 21 kills, tying her career high, to go with 10 digs and a team-high three blocks. Jalyn Stout turned in another complete performance with nine kills and seven digs, and setter Caroline Kerr posted her first 40-assist match of the season with 41 assists and eight digs. A capacity crowd of 6,687 packed Food City Center for the evening finale, continuing a weekend of record-setting attendance for the program.

The win improved Tennessee to 3-0 to open the season, with all three matches coming via sweep, while Fairfield fell to 1-2 on the young season. Tennessee continued its unbeaten run into the following week, sweeping Illinois to improve to 4-0 as part of the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge.
