South Carolina closed out the Gamecock Classic with a 3-0 sweep of Northeastern, winning 25-22, 25-13, 25-17 for the program's second sweep of the weekend and a perfect 2-0 start to the season.

The first set opened as an early back-and-forth affair before South Carolina began to pull away, sparked by a 3-0 run off a dominant block from Sydney Davis that extended the lead to 11-8. The Gamecocks pushed the advantage to 15-9, and sophomore Olivia Borgman delivered her third straight kill, her sixth of the match, to make it 19-12. Northeastern fought back to trail just 19-21, but South Carolina closed it out 25-22 on a final kill from Elise Marchal.

Northeastern again applied early pressure in the second set, and the two teams battled to a 6-6 tie before South Carolina found its footing. Back-to-back kills from senior Ava Leahy sparked a 9-2 run that put the Gamecocks up 19-12, and Ally Cavanaugh's fourth kill of the day extended the lead to 21-13. South Carolina closed the set with a 3-0 run capped by another Marchal kill.

Borgman came out firing again in the third set, notching her 11th kill of the match to spark a 4-0 run. Northeastern rallied back to tie it at 8-8, but South Carolina capitalized on three straight Huskies errors to push ahead 16-13. Junior Lily Gillespie added an ace to make it 21-16, and the Gamecocks closed out the match 25-17 on back-to-back blocks from Leahy, Borgman and sophomore Kiana Dinn.

South Carolina hit .347 as a team, with Borgman leading the way with 12 kills and Marchal adding 11. Leahy and Davis also reached five or more kills. Dinn and Jill Bohannon combined for 31 assists, and Gillespie paced the defense with 16 digs. The Gamecocks also finished with 14 total blocks, the second-highest total of the Sarah Rumely Noble coaching era, with seven different players recording at least one.

Head coach Sarah Rumely Noble praised the team's opening weekend, highlighting the high hitting efficiency and improved blocking. South Carolina improved to 2-0 on the season, while Northeastern fell to 0-2. South Carolina hits the road next for the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge, facing Michigan and Michigan State in Ann Arbor.
