GEN | (NEWS) River Hawks Ready to Soar as Fall Sports Season Begins Tuesday 

The wait is over. Susquehanna University athletics officially kicks off the 2026 fall sports season on Tuesday, September 1, with four River Hawk teams taking to the field and court across the region. The action begins at home at 5 p.m., when Susquehanna field hockey welcomes Franklin & Marshall to Sassafras Field for the season opener. The River Hawks will look to start the new campaign strong against the Diplomats in the first of two home contests on Tuesday. Later that evening, Susquehanna women's soccer opens its season at home against Misericordia University at 7 p.m. Both teams will take to Sassafras Field looking to begin the 2026 campaign on a winning note.

On the road, Susquehanna women's volleyball travels to Muhlenberg College for a 7 p.m. season-opening match. The River Hawks will begin their fall slate against the Mules as they look to set the tone for the season. Rounding out Tuesday's action, Susquehanna men's soccer heads to Misericordia for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The River Hawks will battle the Cougars under the lights in their first match of the 2026 season.

The Landmark Preseason Polls were announced recently for these four sports in anticipation of the September 1 start date. Field hockey was ranked second in their poll behind last year's conference champion Scranton. The River Hawks have won two of the last three Landmark field hockey titles and have appeared in each of the last three championship games. Women's soccer and women's volleyball were both ranked fourth. Each team reached the Landmark Semifinals in 2025 after thrilling wins in their opening round games. Women's soccer defeated Elizabethtown on the road in penalty kicks, while women's volleyball outlasted Moravian at home in a five-set thriller. Men's soccer took eighth in their poll as a new era begins Tuesday night under new head coach Jeremy Payne.
