Have you ever wondered why so many New Zealand influencers don’t share any political or social opinions online?

I’ve been told many times that being outspoken isn’t “brand safe.” 

Speaking about my political views, being pro-Palestine, rallying behind cases involving predatory influential men, advocating for diversity and inclusion, or calling out the unfair treatment and double standards women of colour face in the NZ influencer industry.

And you know what? It probably has cost me opportunities.

What I’ve learned from being a polarising person online in a small industry with a lot of white fragility and bias is that not every brand is going to like what you have to say, or even like that you have a voice. They may even backlist you for life… for simply sharing your concerns about inequality.  I’ve seen marketing women move from company to company and hold grudges because of me speaking out , ensuring I’m blacklisted from opportunities… 

I wish I were different, quieter but unfortunately I have justice sensitivity from having ADHD and I have to speak my mind otherwise I genuinely become physically ill 😂. 

Thanks to all the brands who hear my voice and respect it.
