THEY MADE IT. 🎓🇳🇬

Today, my students became graduates. My NegVites.

When I accepted the invitation to teach Acting & Theatre at the NEGV Institute of Arts and Communications in Nigeria, I thought I was arriving to pour into a classroom of emerging artists.

What I could not have known was how deeply they would pour into me.

Across an ocean, week after week, we studied craft—but we also talked about discipline, courage, character, storytelling, purpose and what it means to remain in alignment with your assignment.

And today, as they crossed their threshold, NEGV surprised me with the 2026 Lecturer Excellence & Outstanding Service Award. To be honored for teaching on the very day my students graduate feels especially sacred because, quite simply:

They are the citation.

Their growth is the award.
Their courage is the evidence.
Who they become from here is the legacy.

To Dr. Henry Emeka Obidi, the faculty and the entire NEGV family: thank you for trusting me with your students, your vision and a small piece of your future.

And to my graduates: wherever this industry carries you, somewhere in New York there will be a professor watching, smiling and saying, “That’s one of mine.”

Remember what I left you with today:

Never audition for a life you were born to create.

Stay in alignment.
Stay on assignment.
And when your name is called—answer as yourself.

Congratulations, Class of 2026.

And thank you for one of the greatest honors of all:
