REVIEW: “This is an absolute fucking dream,” Rae Brazill smiles mid-way through Artio’s set.

Taking to the festival’s Rising Stage under the last rays of late afternoon sun, it’s abundantly clear how much it means for the four-piece to be where they are today, and they’re dead-set on seizing every single moment of it.
With clapping hands raised high all around during ‘The Devil You Know’, every pair of feet jumping during the furious closing moments of ‘Head In The Sand, Finger On The Trigger’, and people screaming along to every word of ‘Product Of My Own Design’, the Leeds band might be on a stage dedicated to breakthrough artists. Still, they’re clearly not a new discovery for plenty of those in the crowd.
Even for those familiar with their game, plenty of surprises are in store. As It Is’ Patty Walters and Ben Biss join them for a propulsive rendition of nostalgic album cut ‘Full On Fight For Fun’ before the live debut of their cover of ‘Hometown’ from Rock Sound’s own ‘Blurryface Reborn’ tribute album, and we even get an announcement of a new EP arriving in October.
Cramming an unreasonable amount of joy, passion and power into their short set, this feels like a vital chapter in the story of Artio, and what a way to tell it. Bold, brilliant, and burning brighter than ever before, theirs is one rise that absolutely won’t be slowing down any time soon.
