BMAC is proud to honor Common with the Harry Belafonte Change Agent Award at the 6th Annual BMAC Gala.

Common has always understood that Black art is more than expression. It is truth, resistance, power and possibility. For decades, he has used his music, his voice and his platform to tell our stories, stand for our people and push Black culture forward with purpose.

Harry Belafonte showed us what it means to use fame in service of freedom. He understood that the power of an artist is not only in what they create, but in what they are willing to stand for.

Common has carried that same spirit throughout his career, using his influence to fight for justice, protect the dignity of our communities and open doors for the next generation.

This award honors more than an extraordinary career. It honors a commitment to Black people, Black culture and the belief that our art has always been one of our greatest forces for change.

Congratulations, Common. Your voice has always carried purpose.
