Next month, broader audiences will discover Halkias’s rebellious brand of humor with ‘Uncle Stav,’ his latest Netflix standup special, a follow-up to 2023’s ‘Fat Rascal.’ But don’t put Halkias in a comedy box—he’s also appeared in ‘Bugonia’ and A24’s ‘TONY’ (the #AnthonyBourdain biopic), and will star in Judd Apatow’s ‘The Comeback King’ next year.

Stavros Halkias stavvybaby2 | What moment made you realize that you want to be a performer? 
I still don’t know why, but they let me host my elementary school’s talent show in fourth grade as the emcee—it was electric.

First splurge purchase?
I recently bought a Big Buck Hunter [arcade game] for my office. I’m in the market for a Sopranos pinball machine as we speak.

Who did you call when you made your first major booking?
I didn’t call my mom when I got ‘Bugonia’ because I didn’t believe it was real. I swore it was a practical joke. I was like, “Once they put me on camera next to Jesse Plemons, then I’ll tell my mother.”
