Ingredients
400 g mixed dried fruit (200 g raisins
120 g golden raisins (sultanas)
80 g dried currants)
300 ml / 1¼ cups strong hot black tea
100 g / ½ cup packed brown sugar
250 g / about 2 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp mixed spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves)
1 large egg, beaten
1–2 tbsp honey, optional glaze
Salted butter, to serve
