Arizona men are facing multiple felony charges after police say they picked up a 17-year-old girl they met on a dating app, tied her up and left her in the desert.

According to court records, the teen told the men she was 18 and was trying to leave a bad situation. Preston McKee, 22, of Apache Junction and Brodie Hester, 21, of Florence allegedly drove about six hours to New Mexico to pick her up before bringing her back to the Phoenix area.

Investigators say the situation changed after a New Mexico detective contacted them and an ID found in the girl’s purse confirmed she was actually 17. Police say the teen was later tied up and left in the desert.

She eventually managed to walk out of the desert and reach a Chipotle, where she called 911.

Both men were arrested in Phoenix on Aug. 5 and face multiple felony counts. Court records say both admitted they had been with the teen after learning she was under 18.

How was a 17-year-old able to match with men in their 20s on a dating app in the first place? 😳
