After breaking out with “KEHLANI” in 2024, Jordan Adetunji has continued to shift his sound, with recent releases like “Who Is It” and “Distraction” tapping into a much darker, more stripped-back side of his R&B. The hazy production, raw vocal delivery and almost intentionally unfinished feel of the records have specifically reminded listeners of the sound PARTYNEXTDOOR introduced on his self-titled debut in 2013 🔥

It’s a pretty specific comparison too. Early PND stood out because his music didn’t feel overly polished. Distorted vocals, unconventional melodies and murky production were part of what made records like “Wus Good / Curious” and “TBH” feel so different at the time. Jordan Adetunji isn’t recreating that sound outright, but “Who Is It” and “Distraction” seem to be scratching a similar itch for a new generation👇
