🔎 Today’s Daily Sift: AI/Robotics 

AI is becoming an economy.

Anthropic has signed a cloud computing agreement worth roughly $35 billion for a 350 megawatt Texas data center.

That follows another recent $45 billion commitment for additional AI compute capacity. 

These are no longer software company numbers.

AI labs are becoming infrastructure operators.

Then OpenAI revealed a different kind of scale.

ChatGPT Ads has reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate less than 200 days after launch.

ChatGPT now serves more than 1 billion weekly active users. 

The internet monetized attention.

AI may monetize intent.

Then South Korea showed how deeply this is entering the macro economy.

The country proposed a record $597 billion budget today as booming AI chip demand drives extraordinary profits at Samsung and SK Hynix and creates a major tax revenue windfall.

Part of that money will be reinvested into semiconductor and technology infrastructure. 

Meanwhile, the United States is urging G20 countries to avoid creating new AI regulatory bodies and focus instead on research and commercial development. 

The pattern is clear.

AI is becoming compute infrastructure.

Advertising infrastructure.

Industrial policy.

Fiscal policy.

Geopolitical strategy.

And Anthropic’s latest safety update reminds us that increasingly capable agents are also creating new operational risks. 

Forward Hypothesis

The AI race is no longer about who has the smartest chatbot.

It is about who controls the system around intelligence.

Energy.

Compute.

Capital.

Distribution.

Security.

Policy.

AI started as software.

Now it is becoming part of the machinery of the economy.
