Nobody prepares you for the stage where you’ve outgrown your old circle but haven’t found your next one.

Here’s why we made this.

We watch people arrive at The Hub in exactly this state:

mid-pivot, quietly editing themselves at dinner with old friends, wondering whether wanting more depth makes them intense, or distant, or ungrateful.

It doesn’t. It makes them early.

The research is unglamorous about it.

Jeffrey Hall’s work puts a close friendship at 200+ hours of chosen time together, and found that the hours you’re forced into, like work or class, barely move it.

So the loneliness isn’t a character flaw. You walked out of a room with ten years of hours in it. The new one starts at zero.

What we tell people to do in the meantime:

30 minutes a day.
No phone. No podcast. No messages. No books. No consuming.
Walk. Journal. Think. Create.

Not to force productivity.

To notice what your mind returns to when nothing else is feeding it an answer

The idea, the craft, the problem, the life you keep coming back to. That recurring signal is usually trying to show you what to build.

Don’t rush back into the old rooms just because the middle feels lonely.

Build something in the quiet.

The next room recognises the work, not the enthusiasm.

More on how we think about all this in bio.

What keeps coming back when nothing is feeding you answers?
