4 years ago, 'Dont Worry Darling' premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

Olivia Wilde directed 'Don't Worry Darling,' her second feature following 2019's 'Booksmart,' with New Line Cinema winning a multi-studio bidding war for the project. Florence Pugh joined the cast in April 2020, with Harry Styles brought on that September, and filming ran from October 2020 through February 2021 across Los Angeles. Katie Silberman wrote the screenplay, based on a story from Carey and Shane Van Dyke, with Matthew Libatique serving as cinematographer and John Powell composing the score.

Set in the fictional 1950s company town of Victory, California, the psychological thriller follows Alice and Jack, a married couple played by Pugh and Styles, as Alice begins uncovering unsettling secrets about the seemingly perfect community her husband's employer built. The film also starred Wilde herself, alongside Gemma Chan, Chris Pine, KiKi Layne, and Nick Kroll, rounding out a cast that anchored the story's blend of retro glamour and creeping unease.

The film premiered out of competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 5, 2022, ahead of its wide US theatrical release later that month on September 23 through Warner Bros. It went on to earn $87.6 million worldwide against a production budget between $20 and $35 million, marking a solid commercial showing for Wilde's sophomore directorial effort and further establishing her as a filmmaker willing to tackle ambitious, genre-blending material.
