Whether you want to freeze wave action or blur the water's motion, choosing the right shutter speed for ocean photography is crucial. A faster shutter speed like 1/500s can freeze motion, letting you capture crashing waves, while 5s can slow it down and create motion blur in the scene. While both shutter speeds are equally as good, there’s a time and place for both slow and fast shutter speeds. Learn when to use each one in this video.
