it’s hard to put into words what affirmingsumner is in a world of AI slop and horrific news headlines by the hour ….

but I’ll try. 

for months a small group of volunteers have been meeting every other week to plan for this day. the number of decisions is crazy and my executive dysfunction is at an all time high right now. 

but the heart of it is just something you have to see to experience. Pride began as a protest for sure but if it will continue… it will continue in the heart beat of our smallest towns. it will continue in spaces where there is not one (until this year and he is on the planning committee) elected official who cares to affirm the lives of others …

And it’s not because “no one cares” in these small towns. In fact I’ve never seen care quite so loud and powerful. It just looks exactly like this - pride on a farm. 

Pride is literally for everyone . Every age. Every background. 

The farm is the literal perfect place for pride. And moving it to the end of September right as the harvest begins … feels like the most magical convergence of themes. 

Also since TN has tried to reclaim June as “nuclear family month” it is only right to just take up any month of the year we want :)

There is a big feeling in my chest of like “what do we do to make it feel special and how can I help everyone’s experience be incredible” but I also know that I can’t control it at all. 

It’s already been so special to see it come to life out here. And to live it every day.
