⚡️Tesla’s Cybercab is no longer just a futuristic concept, with limited driverless rides now operating in Austin and Tesla already taking interest from buyers who want an individual Cybercab or an entire commercial fleet.

Elon Musk has described the long-term business model as essentially “Airbnb on wheels,” where customer-owned Teslas could join the Robotaxi network and generate ride revenue when their owners are not using them.

The purpose-built Cybercab is a two-seater with no steering wheel or pedals, butterfly doors, a large touchscreen, and a design optimized around autonomous operation.

Musk originally targeted a price below $30,000, which is a huge part of the argument for making autonomous fleets economically scalable.

Tesla’s current website now lets people register interest in purchasing either a single Cybercab or a fleet specifically for commercial use.

Under Musk’s proposed model, owners could make their vehicle available to Tesla’s network when they want, pull it back when they need it, and share ride revenue with Tesla.

What Tesla has not announced is just as important: there is currently no guaranteed owner income, finalized public retail price, or confirmed owner revenue split.

Actual profitability would depend heavily on utilization, ride pricing, charging, insurance, maintenance, cleaning, downtime, and how much of each fare Tesla keeps.

The rollout also still faces regulatory scrutiny as Tesla works toward deploying purpose-built autonomous vehicles without conventional human controls.

If a ~$30,000 Cybercab could realistically earn tens of thousands of dollars a year while you sleep, would you buy one or build an entire fleet?
