Over 40 youth boxers stepped into the ring, each one a testament to the work verticalskillz has poured into this community since 2020. Founder dalialapantera watched her vision come full circle: what started as a training program at the park has grown into something the whole neighborhood could celebrate together.

For a program built on discipline, mentorship, and giving young people somewhere positive to channel their energy, this event was proof of concept: East Oakland doesn’t just need programs like this, it shows up for them.

Huge congrats to Dalia La Pantera, Vertical Skillz, and every young boxer who laced up. Here’s to many more rounds of Fights & Function!
