It’s time to strain my Fire Cider! 🔥🧪🍋🍎🍊🥕🌶️🧄🫚🧅 This jar of immune supporting, digestive aiding, sinus clearing goodness has been sitting in a cool, dark place for a month. Now, we get to really enjoy it!! - Heads up! Original recipe is pinned on my page at the top.
First, you want to use a fine mesh strainer to separate the liquid from the solids. Do not discard anything!
Second, add honey to the liquid. However much you’d like. I usually start with 1/4 of a cup, sample it, and then add more till I get my desired sweetness. You can also use maple syrup instead.
Third, add the sweetened fire cider to your desired air tight jars. Store jars in a cool dark place. If your house is warm the fridge is fine! If not, a cupboard is good! It’s good for 6-8 months.
Take 1-2 tbs as needed in 8 oz of warm or cold water as an immune supporting tonic in the fall and winter. Start small. Listen to your body. Adjust accordingly. Can also be used in marinades, salad dressings, etc.
Now for the solids! Lay them out and allow all excess liquid to drip off. Chop any large items roughly. Dehydrate them using your oven on its lowest setting or a dehydrator (preferred). You can leave them as is and use to make a tea by adding to hot water. You can grind them up to make a spice. Or you can add them to honey to make a lovely cough syrup. #firecider #fallrecipes #kitchenwitch #whimsymaxxing #greenwitch
