📈 PROPERTY TAX PRESSURE: Tennessee may be known as a low-tax state, but a new Beacon Center analysis says the state saw the nation’s largest percentage increase in property taxes over a six-year period.

In Mt. Juliet, the city property tax rate is now roughly 155% higher than it was two years ago... though that does not mean individual homeowners’ total tax bills rose by the same amount.

The findings are renewing debate over whether Tennessee should put a statewide cap on property tax increases as fast-growing communities face rising costs for police, fire, EMS, roads and other services.
