I don’t bring my son to the gym because I expect him to train like an adult. I bring him because I want movement, taking care of his body, doing hard things, and following through to feel normal to him.

Kids are going to build habits either way. The question is what habits are we helping them build?

There’s nothing wrong with video games, tablets, junk food, or sitting on the couch sometimes. He’s a kid. I want him to enjoy being one.

But I also want him growing up understanding that there’s a time to be comfortable and a time to get up and put the work in.

I don’t want him to reach adulthood and have to completely rebuild the way he lives because nobody taught him discipline when he was young.

And the biggest part is this:

Our kids are watching us more than they’re listening to us.
