Bartkowiak traces the throughline from his early days shooting the Panaflex Lightweight II at Panavision's General Camera Corporation in New York, through the discipline he learned from mentors Sidney Lumet and John Huston, to running crews as large as Dante's Peak's 27-camera unit — all built on the same conviction: there's no substitute for the real thing.
