Some call it a curse. Some call it coincidence. I pulled their cards to see what the blueprint said.

Spades ran through the death window of all six. Spades are the deepest suit in the deck, the suit of wisdom, transformation, and the things we don’t come back from. And the sharpest card in it, the Ace of Spades, was written into four of their hands. Joplin carried it in her deepest seat. Morrison left the world on it. Cobain’s last day fell on the King of Spades.

Jim Morrison and Amy Winehouse are the ones to sit with. Forty years apart, they were dealt the identical hand. Same birth card, same spread, card for card. Both the Ten of Clubs. Both holding the Ace of Spades. Both gone at the same age.

The cards don’t cause a life. They show the energy running through it. What each of them did with their time, and the pain they carried, was theirs. This is the pattern, read with respect.
