Auburn's season-opening win over Baylor showcased a few new uniform details that you may have missed.

1) The SEC jersey patch has been shrunk and moved to the collar. The move comes as teams across the conference either introduce new ad patches or prepare to do so. While Auburn (and some other SEC teams) didn't have ad patches, the possibility of adding one remains. 

Auburn may go the entire season without an advertising patch. Or they could add one mid-season. So enjoy the new look while you can. The smaller SEC patch isn't the ideal option, but it looked better than I was expecting.

2) Auburn forgoes captaincy patches for the first time since 2021.

Auburn is announcing captains on a game-by-game basis this season. With the change in mentality comes a change in uniform identification. After four different patch designs in four years, the Tigers return to no captain's patches.

3) Facemask clips are back to being white for all mask colors.

The clips that connect the facemask to the helmet shell return to white. Last season, Auburn introduced different colored clips to match each facemask color. The new navy and orange clips were painted to match the facemasks. Painted clips chip and discolor much more easily and require being replaced or repainted on a more regular basis. The white clips are molded in the color, therefore, wear and tear isn't as noticeable. 

Auburn first sported the white clips for the 2021 Citrus Bowl against Northwestern. Previously, Auburn wore clear facemask clips like most other teams.

4) In the smallest change of the year, Auburn's SEC helmet decal has been lowered ever so slightly. Last season was the first time the SEC logo had been worn on the left side of the stripe since 2020. It was stacked above the Brother Chette Williams memorial decal. Now, it sits alone on the left side as the player number decals remain within the orange center stripe.
