The two teams have played five times previously, with the first being the 1954 Gator Bowl. Baylor would fumble the opening kickoff of the game, and Auburn would score just a few plays later. The Tigers would never trail and win 33-13. 1965 would bring the Bears to Auburn for the first time. Baylor would come to town and quickly go up 14-0 in the season opener. Auburn scored a touchdown and two-point conversion as time expired to fall 14-8. Auburn would make the return trip to Waco, TX in 1975. It was a game in which nothing could go right for Auburn, with five total fumbles (only two lost) and two interceptions thrown. Auburn and Baylor would play to a 10-10 tie to start Shug Jordan's final season as head coach with an 0-1-1 record after a loss to Memphis in the opener. Fun fact: For the 1975 meeting, Baylor wore green jerseys. That remains the most recent time Auburn has faced a green-clad opponent. 1976 was Doug Barfield's first season as head coach, taking over for Shug Jordan. Auburn led 14-7 late into the 4th quarter when Baylor scored a touchdown to make it 14-13. The Bears were in town to do one thing - win. They went for the two-point conversion and got it. Baylor would head back home to Waco with a 15-14 win. Last year was Auburn's second trip to Waco. The Tigers would return home with a 38-24 win in the season opener. This weekend, the two teams each look to break the 2-2-1 series tie.
