Every few years a government number moves, and the people who cannot prove their own figures are the ones who pay for it.

That is not only a trader problem. I sit with businesses that cannot tell me, to the shilling, what their fastest moving product actually earns, or what a single client truly costs them to serve. When you cannot see your own numbers, you end up accepting whatever figure someone else assigns you.
