⚽️ AN IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON! One of the things I love most about football is how often it presents opportunities to teach children lessons that go far beyond the game itself.

During a recent session, two girls came over and asked if they could swap teams because they felt it wasn’t fair.

Now, in that moment, it would have been easy to step in and fix it.

But instead, it felt like a really good opportunity to pause and have a conversation.

We spoke about how in a real game, you can’t ask the referee to change the teams. You don’t get to reset the challenge just because it feels difficult or unfair in that moment.

Sometimes, you have to face what’s in front of you.

And that’s where the real learning is.

We talked about giving your best, sticking together as a team, showing resilience and finding ways to compete, even when things feel tough.

Those are the moments that build character.

Because football isn’t just about winning or losing, it’s about how you respond when things don’t go your way. It’s about effort, attitude, teamwork and the determination to keep going.

By the end of the session, their mindset had completely shifted. They weren’t focused on changing the teams anymore, they were focused on how they could work together and rise to the challenge.

And that, for me, is what it’s all about.

Using football as a vehicle to help children develop the tools they’ll need, not just on the pitch, but in life.
