When Ohio State’s 2025 season ended, Dante Bowen thought his collegiate lacrosse career was over. A senior at the time, Bowen entered the transfer portal, unsure where he’d end up.⁠

At the same time, Syracuse head coach Gary Gait needed someone to anchor his short-stick defensive midfielder unit. It was a perfect match. Syracuse’s coaches told Bowen if he came to SU, he could improve his chances of playing professionally and provide stability for the Orange as they searched for their first national championship since 2009. ⁠

That search comes to a crossroads Saturday as Syracuse faces North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.⁠
