A fresh take on Taiwanese glove puppetry! 

Jin Yu Yuan Puppet Theatre, led by director Zhao Jin-Tong, has spent years pushing the boundaries of traditional Taiwanese glove puppetry, using it to tell stories that matter to modern audiences while preserving the craft that makes it extraordinary. 

Original scripts, rotating stages, 3D black light theatre, projection mapping, and cartoon-style puppet characters that bring in younger audiences who might never have discovered puppetry otherwise.

As Zhao Jin-Tong sees it, glove puppetry doesn’t have to be confined to historical drama. It can be a mirror for the world we live in now.

The troupe has performed in Japan, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Canada, and beyond, and this July, they’re back in Vancouver to share their artistry!
