To #BeABluejay means being part of a community that genuinely wants to see you succeed. For John Aper, a Heider College of Business student from Park Ridge, Illinois, that support has made all the difference throughout his college experience.

John was looking for a university that would prepare him for long-term success while giving him opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. His first visit to Creighton helped solidify his decision.

“When I visited Creighton, it just felt different,” he says. “It felt like a family. I really liked its strong academics, the balance of a campus that isn't too big or too small, and its location in Omaha, a city full of opportunities.”

Since arriving on campus, John has become involved in several student organizations that have given him opportunities to build relationships and develop as a leader.

“At Creighton, you’ll always find people willing to support you,” he shares. “Whether it’s professors staying after class, classmates helping each other or alumni eager to connect, everyone is invested in your success.”

After graduation, John hopes to build a career in the financial services industry, taking with him the relationships and experiences that have shaped his time at Creighton.
