❓Q9: You have built a reputation for challenging conventional assumptions around wealth, ambition, and career velocity. What is one belief about money, ambition, or success that you held at the beginning of your career but no longer believe today?

Hasnae Taleb: 🎙️
“Early in my career, I believed effort and speed would eventually guarantee the outcome. I thought the person who worked the hardest, moved the fastest, and sacrificed the most would naturally win. Markets taught me that effort has no claim on the result.

You can work twice as hard on the wrong position and lose twice as much. You can move very quickly into a deal that should never have been done. You can remain busy for years without creating anything that compounds.

I still value ambition, intensity, and speed. Experience has made me far more selective about where I apply them. Some of the best decisions of my career involved waiting, declining an opportunity, walking away from a transaction, or refusing to make a decision under artificial pressure. Today, I measure progress through the quality of the decisions I can compound over time.”
