Toronto is getting the first Malibu Barbie Cafe in Canada. The pop-up opens August 13 at 70 The Esplanade, bringing a pink diner and a retro roller rink themed around 1970s Malibu.

It’s a Mattel and Bucket Listers project that’s already run in New York, Chicago, Miami, Boston, San Diego, Las Vegas and Melbourne, pulling more than 250,000 guests along the way. The menu comes from MasterChef finalist and Chopped champion Becky Brown, leaning into diner comfort food like pancakes, burgers and fries, plus floral cocktails and pink desserts.

The roller rink is the centrepiece, and proceeds from every skate rental go to Girls Inc., which runs mentorship programs for young girls. There’s also merch, cupcake decorating classes, paint parties and 21-plus skate nights on the schedule.

Tickets and reservations are required, and there’s a waitlist open now ahead of the August 13 opening.
