A longtime fixture of Toronto’s Ossington strip is preparing to say goodbye.

La Cubana has announced that its Ossington location will permanently close on June 28, marking the end of the restaurant’s final standalone location in the city.

Co owners and siblings Pablo and Corinna Mozo say rising operating costs, including inflation, food prices, taxes, insurance, and utilities, made it impossible to continue operating the restaurant.

The closure ends nearly two decades of history on Ossington, including six years as Delux before the space was transformed into La Cubana in 2013.

In a message shared online, the owners thanked customers and staff for supporting the restaurant through engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and countless meals over the years.

While the Ossington location is closing, La Cubana’s restaurant at The Well will remain open, and the owners have hinted at future projects to come.
