Please congratulate Beau! He’s doing great and has been cancer-free for more than two years after treatment for acute myeloid #leukemia!
When Beau was four, he had several long-lasting nosebleeds. His parents became concerned and brought him to UCSF, where our team discovered he had #AcuteMyeloidLeukemia (#AML), a fast-growing blood and bone-marrow #cancer.
Beau began treatment right away with Dr. Elliot Stieglitz, staying in the hospital for seven months for treatment and completing six cycles of #chemo. During his time in the hospital, Beau attended our hospital school and regularly participated in our music therapy program.
“He loved his nurses,” Beau's dad, Tim, recalls. “Beau had a good time there and got to play and have fun and be a kid at #UCSF.”
Happily, the chemo was successful! Beau was thrilled to go home to #Burlingame when he was 5-and-a-half!
Now a happy 7-year-old, Beau loves school and playing lacrosse, football, basketball and soccer. He still keeps in touch with his #nurses and wants to be a #basketball player when he grows up!
