At least one in four NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021 had the degenerative brain disease known as CTE, a new study has revealed. The study, published in the British Medical Journal, looked at how common chronic traumatic encephalopathy might be among NFL players. Of the 878 players who appeared in at least one NFL game and died during that six-year period, at least 25% had CTE. I think that number could be even higher. Our brain imaging work with TBI patients and retired NFL players has shown areas of brain damage. But there is hope…with strategies like hyperbaric oxygen therapy, brain-directed supplements, and lifestyle changes, we’ve seen that the brain has the capacity to improve. 🧠 Want to learn more about your brain?
