Formed in San Jose, California, the pop-rock band Smash Mouth rose to global fame with chart-topping hits like “Walkin’ on the Sun” (1997), “All Star” (1999), and their cover of The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer” (2001). Beyond generating multi-platinum album sales for Fush Yu Mang and Astro Lounge, their signature anthem “All Star” earned a Grammy nomination and became a permanent pop-culture fixture through its inclusion in the soundtrack for DreamWorks’ 2001 film Shrek.
