From attendee to ambassador. 🙌🏽

I attended my first Essence Fest at 16 years old. Sixteen. In the crowds soaking up every single moment, dreaming about what life could look like — and never could I have imagined this would be part of the story.

This past weekend I had the honor of representing @blackgirlvitamins at their booth during @essencefest and y’all… I had to pause and feel it. 

And let me attempt to explain my experience being a part of the Black Girl Vitamins activation? 

It was likeee… Full. Stop. Full. Circle. Heart. Full. 

To interact with the ladies who love BGV, who were loving on me and me loving on them… it meant everything. 

When I say that I LOVE us. No like, “we” make me full… to be able to show up for these women who look like me, to show women what it looks like to go for yours and to take part in a movement that centers us filled my cup in a way that I didn’t know needed replenishing. 

It was wellness centered in heart. 🖤

Because wellness has never been a trend for me. It’s always been a lifestyle. 

In motherhood, I’ve strived to be the most natural mom that I could be. I exercised throughout both my pregnancies (one even being a twin pregnancy) and gave birth naturally with both as well. I was intentional to breastfeed my children for as long as possible, and with one being exclusively breastfed for over a year. 

I’m thankful that I’ve been able to keep wellness at the forefront of my life as a wife and mom and have always believed that how you take care of your body matters deeply — especially as we get older, 

Being over 40 means I take my health seriously in a whole new way. Supplements are a non-negotiable part of my routine, and working to share a brand that centers our wellness, our bodies, our needs — a brand that was literally made for women who look like me? 

That’s not just a brand deal. That’s perfect alignment.

Essence has been a sacred space for Black women for decades. And getting to show up in the wellness space — on the other side of the crowd — is a full circle moment I don’t take lightly.
