🚨 Did you know qualifying New Orleans seniors can pay just $10 per month for sanitation service?

Residents must be at least 65, meet the household-income requirements and submit an application with proof of age and income. The discount is not automatic, and it must be renewed every year.

With the standard residential sanitation fee increasing from $24 to $32.25 on October 1, an eligible senior could save approximately $267 a year.

I learned about this during a City Council meeting. My own 80-year-old mother had never heard of it. She does not qualify based on income, but how many seniors who do qualify are paying the full rate simply because nobody told them?

Applications are available through the Sewerage and Water Board. Call 504-529-2837 for information.

A public benefit cannot help people who do not know it exists. Please share this with a New Orleans senior.
