For Rolling Stone’s October 2026 cover story, @Geeseband — the year’s most talked-about #rock #band — invited us into their top-secret recording and rehearsal space for their first on-camera interview since the stunning success of their 2025 album 'Getting Killed.'  Singer #cameronwinter, guitarist Emily Green, drummer Max Bassin, and bassist Dominic DiGesu reveal the status of Winter’s highly-anticipated new solo album, the secrets of their live shows, their plans for the band going forward, and much more in a free-wheeling, funny conversation with Deputy Music Editor Simon Vozick-Levinson. The Brooklyn band share early memories of listening to #pinkfloyd for the first time as teenagers, give it up to legends like the Beatles, and tell us which characters they play as in Mario Party. They also give us a very-real, definitely-not-joking tour of the rock & roll history behind their practice space. #geese

Cameron Winter on how his new solo album is coming along: "It’s been going OK. It’s been going great. You’ll all hear how it’s been going before too long. I can’t work in my apartment anymore, because the walls are thin and stuff like that. Apartment 4B is not fond of my inflections. The first day I was there, I made a horrible impression on my neighbors. I was stomping and dragging shit around. This veteran came upstairs. He was like, ‘It’s fucking 11 at night, I have work in the morning.’ I was like, ’Sorry, sir.’"

Cameron Winter on how he deals with all the praise and criticism of Geese’s music: "Some people listen to it and they think like, ‘Wow, this is really crazy, weird, out there.’ Then other people are like, ‘This is the safest music I’ve ever heard in my life.’ I don’t know what it sounds like anymore. I think everyone who ever listens to anything I make gives completely opposite opinions on it, in terms of quality and who it sounds like. All the praise and the criticism in the world, it just gets more and more useless, I think."

Max Bassin on the new songs that Geese recorded with ‘Getting Killed’ producer Kenneth Blume last year: "Those songs exist as essentially very high-quality demos of ideas. They could all come out at some point, but I don’t anticipate that. We were sort of just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what stuck...So they’re out there somewhere."

Max Bassin on this fall’s Getting Killed Again Tour: "We’re milking this ‘Getting Killed’ thing for all it’s worth…. I’m milking that shit. I’m getting down on my hands and knees and milking… Doing the tour again is sort of like, we went out as raw milk and we came back as beautifully churned butter."

Geese on being mistaken for Goose: "People either think we’re a covers band or a throwback classic-rock thing, or they just think we’re Goose. They’re really disappointed when we’re not."

Cameron Winter on whether Geese is a jam band: "We’re a jam band. We’re not grateful and we’re not dead, though, neither of those things… All rock bands are the same. People think they’re so different. You go to a Phish show and a Radiohead show, they’re not that fucking different."

Cameron Winter on how touring has changed for Geese: “Now we have all this crew. We have this whole sort of machine. Our tour manager finds an office and does paperwork. We’re shepherded into the buses. We’re accounted for, like cattle in a fucking box car. We’re just like a little marble getting rolled into the fucking things. And it’s great!”

Cameron Winter on reports that he is studying Japanese: "That’s AI."
