OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra is reportedly built to use computers, browse the web, write code, move between software, and complete complex tasks from start to finish.

It reportedly also became the first AI model to beat Portal, solving 3D spatial puzzles across 3,336 tool calls in a run that lasted nearly 24 hours and cost $571. 💀

Meanwhile, Google is exploring AI and neuroscience at an entirely different scale.

Researchers mapped 166,700 neurons and 125 million connections in a fruit fly’s brain and nerve cord, giving scientists an unprecedented view of how neural circuits turn sensory information into movement. A developer then recreated that nervous system inside Minecraft, connecting the neural activity to a virtual fly — with GPT-6 Astra helping build the project. 🧠🤖

Anthropic is pushing another frontier: AI agents that can work for days instead of minutes.

Claude Fable 5.1 is being tested on extended coding, research, and browser tasks, including a reported 38-hour unattended run. Anthropic also says Claude worked largely autonomously for 11 days to formalize a simplified version of Fermat’s Last Theorem in Lean, generating around 13 million lines of code and proving more than 30,300 intermediate theorems. 🤯

And AI is spreading far beyond chatbots.

Runway is building systems that can generate app interfaces as you interact with them. Dyson has created an AI-powered toothbrush using computer vision to identify hard-to-reach areas. Apple Vision Pro has even been used during surgery to bring medical scans and live camera feeds directly into a surgeon’s view.
