Sisters PGH had an incredible and impactful time in New Orleans for the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition (BTAC) Conference. 🌈✨ blacktransadvocacy 

A strong presence of our staff and board members were in attendance, representing Sisters PGH with intention, purpose, and pride. Together, we engaged in workshops, built meaningful connections, strengthened partnerships, and continued our commitment to advancing the lives of trans people across Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Allegheny County.

This experience was not only about learning, but about being in community with leaders, advocates, and organizers from across the country who are doing this work every single day.

We are especially proud to share that our Founding Executive Director, Ciora Thomas, competed in the Miss division of the Black Trans International Pageantry System and placed Top 5 in her first national pageant. 👑

We also proudly celebrate AJ Scruggs, Sisters PGH’s Programs Coordinator for Sisters PHL, who competed in the Mr. division. Together, they represented Sisters PGH with excellence, purpose, and pride on a national stage.

These moments reflect not only personal achievement, but the power, visibility, and leadership that Sisters PGH brings into every space.

From late nights in community, to performances, to meaningful conversations — New Orleans reminded us why this work matters.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and supported our team’s travel. Because of you, we were able to show up, represent, and continue building toward a future where trans people are supported, housed, and thriving.

This is only the beginning. The work continues.
