Seattle Faces Legal Challenge Over Race-Based P-Patch Garden Rules🚨🌱

Seattle’s P-Patch Community Gardening Program is facing legal pressure over policies that give certain racial and ethnic groups priority on garden plot waitlists. Pacific Legal Foundation and Fair For All sent the city a letter challenging the rules, arguing they may violate constitutional protections. 

The groups also challenged a required “Anti-Racist” statement applicants must agree to before receiving a plot. Seattle’s current P-Patch materials still list the program’s anti-discrimination rules and related resources, while the legal groups had asked the city to make changes by August 20.
