A Wright State student, soccer player and ROTC member with plans for his future. After losing his protected immigration status, ICE placed a GPS ankle monitor on him. His family says the shame, humiliation and bullying that followed weighed heavily on him before his death.

This is the part of immigration policy that gets lost in the headlines and narrative.

Behind every court ruling, executive order and talking point are real people trying to go to school, build a life and simply exist with dignity.

Pierre was more than an immigration status. He was somebody’s son, a student, an athlete and a young man with a future.
