Every detail you see at the 9/11 Memorial is cared for with intention.

Each weeknight, after visitors have left and the Memorial grows quiet, our staff climb inside the twin pools to begin a meticulous, top-to-bottom cleaning. They work carefully across the pools, tending to the surfaces, water and countless small details that can be easy to overlook, but make all the difference in maintaining this space.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, preserving this place carries a profound responsibility. As we approach the 25th anniversary, this behind-the-scenes work is one of the many ways we prepare the Memorial to welcome, honor and remember together.

It’s the kind of work most visitors never see, but it’s part of what allows the Memorial to remain a place of reflection and remembrance, day after day. #911Museum #NeverForget911 #NYC
